No reason your entire cabinet system couldn't be built this wayĪnd might be a good way to hide a spare tire along w/ a small jack n lug wrench in a well under the cabinet section for theft protection OR, OR, OR. The tools kneaded for the task were left in place w/ the owner's manuals for simple convenience. His reasoning wasn't as much for hauling stuff butt for getting his large queen sized mattress in n out of the trailer when/if kneaded When i asked the owner explained he built the lower kitchen cabinet section to be removable Upon closer inspection/looking down thru the hole where the sink bowl was removed i saw a set of tools and several owner's manuals for appliances under where the sink bowl normally lived and above the top drawer The rear swinging door on the square back of one trailer opened up to reveal a very nice kitchen area Last fall i went to a TearJerker's gathering outside of HotSprings, Ar where i saw several really cool innovations one of which might would be suitable for the OP's proposal Probably put a roof red back on top made from 1/2 inch steel water pipe. ![]() I have built houses before so this will be basically a small one. I plan to use the frame method instead of the way teardrops are usually made, because that is what I know. A folding table, a coupe folding chairs, and a 10x10 canopy. I'll use 2-3 water jugs with sprouts from the grocery store for water and a dishpan for a sink. I plan to use a couple battery operated lights inside and a foam mattress. I plan to have a couple flip down shelves inside and flip down work surfaces on the back doors and the kitchen area. The interior will be white paint as well. I plan to prime with house primer, and paint the entire camper with white roof coating. The kitchen in the back will be made like an over grown chuck box and be removable so I can have a clear trailer if I need it. The back will be side opening double doors (instead of the flip up teardrop style). I'm going to make a door on the driver's side of the trailer in front of the wheel well to access the sleep area, and a window on the opposite side from the door. I am planning to frame out a box 4x8 feet with 2x2 (1 1/2 x 1 1/2 actual) studs and 3/8 inch exterior grade plywood. There is some older plywood on it and I plan to use it to haul trash until I get my place cleaned up, then strip it to the frame. I'm starting with a harbor freight trailer rated for about 1700 pounds I just bought for $300. I also plan to make it useful as a cargo trailer also. ![]() It needs to be less than 2,000 pounds total and my budget is around $1,000 dollars US. ![]() I plan to build it tear drop style, but square vs rounded shape. My plan for this spring is to build a small, basic camper.
